Frequently Asked Questions About Deltarat
Looking for information about Deltarat? You'll find answers to many of the most common questions below. As the site grows, this page will continue to grow with it.
Getting Started
What is Deltarat?
Deltarat is a creative home built around one simple idea: creativity should be enjoyable, approachable, and shared. Here you'll find original articles, photography, artwork, tutorials, reviews, and behind-the-scenes looks at the creative projects I'm working on. Whether you're a writer, artist, photographer, musician, board gamer, or simply someone who enjoys making things, you're welcome here.
What does the name Deltarat mean?
Deltarat began as a nickname I was given years ago by a coworker. Growing up in the Mississippi Delta, the name stuck. I registered the domain long before I knew exactly what I wanted to build, and over time it became the home for all of my creative interests.
Who creates the content on Deltarat?
Deltarat is created and maintained by me, Jason Eric Pryor. I write the articles and books, take the photographs, create the artwork, and develop the creative projects you'll find throughout the site. While I occasionally feature and interview other creators, Deltarat is ultimately a personal creative project that reflects my own journey as I continue learning, creating, and sharing what I discover.
Creativity & Process
Do you use artificial intelligence?
Yes. I use artificial intelligence as a tool for brainstorming, organizing ideas, research, problem-solving, and developing creative projects. It may help me outline an article, think through a story, troubleshoot the website, or explore visual ideas. However, the finished creative work remains my own. I write my books and articles, take my photographs, and create my original artwork myself. When AI plays a more direct role in something, I believe in being transparent about it.
Who writes the articles and books on Deltarat?
I do. Every article and book published under my name is written by me. AI may sometimes help me organize ideas, develop an outline, or review a draft, but I do not copy and paste generated text and present it as my writing. The experiences, opinions, stories, and final words are my own.
Who creates the artwork and photography?
The original photography and artwork I share on Deltarat is created by me using traditional or digital tools. I also use licensed stock images for some featured images and article illustrations when appropriate. Future webcomics will be drawn, inked, and colored by me. Some products in The Deltarat Depot use designs that began with AI-generated imagery and were then edited and prepared by me; that part of the creative process will be explained openly where appropriate.
The Website
Is Deltarat free to visit?
Yes. You can explore Deltarat without paying a subscription or making a donation. Articles, galleries, tutorials, and other creative content are available for everyone to enjoy. Unless otherwise noted, the creative work published on Deltarat remains protected by copyright and isn't free for reuse or redistribution.
How can I support Deltarat?
The best way to support Deltarat is simply by enjoying what you find here and sharing it with others. If you'd like to support future projects financially, you can purchase books, artwork, photography, or other products available through The Deltarat Depot. Rather than asking for donations, I prefer to offer something creative in return for your support.
Why doesn't Deltarat ask for donations?
Deltarat is free to explore. I want the articles, tutorials, photography, and creative resources here to be available without distracting ads interrupting the experience.
Instead of relying on pop-ups or intrusive advertising, Deltarat is supported through products I create, including books, artwork, photography, and items available through The Deltarat Depot. If you choose to purchase something, you're not making a donation—you're receiving something I've created while helping support future projects.
Every design decision on Deltarat begins with the same question: "Does this make the site better for the visitor?" My goal is to build a place that I would enjoy visiting myself, and I hope that philosophy shows throughout the site.
Contact & Community
Can I contact you?
Absolutely. If you have a question, comment, or just want to say hello, I'd love to hear from you. Whether you're asking about something you've seen on Deltarat or simply want to connect with another creative person, you're welcome to get in touch.
Can I suggest an article topic?
Yes. If there's a creative topic you'd like to learn more about or see discussed on Deltarat, I'd be happy to hear your suggestions. While I can't promise every idea will become an article, reader feedback helps shape the future of the site.
What are some future plans for Deltarat?
Deltarat is designed to grow over time. Some projects are already underway, while others are being developed behind the scenes before they're ready to launch. Some of the things you can look forward to include:
• A weekly webcomic, launching after I've built a substantial backlog to ensure consistent updates.
• A monthly newsletter featuring new articles, creative updates, and behind-the-scenes notes.
• Additional photography galleries as my collection continues to grow.
• More books, artwork, games, and other original creative projects.
• Continued exploration of new creative interests as I learn and grow.
My goal isn't to rush features onto the site. I'd rather build them carefully and release them when they're ready.
